The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) lay out a clear vision for a sustainable future. In the spirit of giving young people a seat at the table to build a sustainable future, Orion square is creating SDG Pioneers in schools and students, who stimulate action in the following critically important areas: poverty, hunger, education, health and well-being, education, equality, water and sanitation, energy, economic growth and decent work, infrastructure, industry and innovation, reducing inequalities etc. T

he 17 SDGs are integrated—that is, they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

 We run workshops in schools which include interactive sessions, field work, GD's, role plays and other simulations where-

• Students learn about the world and participate in its issues- Learning about these initiatives helps students develop insights into issues around the world, such as lack of access to clean water and gender equality.
• Students learn empathy and compassion-When students learn and go for field work and understand work required around poverty, education, Inclusion or others they begin to experience gratitude, appreciation and therefore empathy
• Action is inspired- Once students have an understanding of the SDGs and experience the issues both by way of field work, and activities, role plays, GD’s etc they are inspired to make positive changes, in big and small ways. They create personal/group projects and implement and measure the outcome

 We are working with thousands of students on projects in which they create a change, or look for sustainable solutions in the community. The projects are based on social issues where the solutions are co-created/implemented with students. They also use a shared value approach while simultaneously addressing the socio-economic challenge. Together, with teachers and students, we can be a powerful force for achieving the UN’s vision of a more peaceful, healthy and equitable world.

We also help the school map out a Balance score card that helps measure growth, innovation and progress as a result of SDG implementation
