BACKGROUND
Orion’s team consists of leading educators, philanthropists, psychologist, anthropologists, corporate leaders and AI experts. We have been working with thousands of students across India and globally to create cutting-edge insights, best practices & sustainable improvement in society that equips students with the tools to bring about a change including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice
ALT is a one day workshop (now online) that focuses on social impact, global altruism and effective strategies using real life issues and solutions. The students also develop empathy and gratitude, entrepreneurial thinking, innovation and creative thinking, writing skills through this program besides helps them gain skills leadership, communication and decision making skills.
ALT PROGRAM
The ALT (Awakening Leadership in Teens) workshop is designed to work with students on their thoughts and ideas for meaningful social impact– in our communities.The program comprises of conversations, presentations, debates, interact with SDG champions, role models and thought leaders along with activities that can help the students reflect , discuss and actions for change :
- Ecology (Environment, Recycling, Upcycling & Climate)
- Economy (Poverty, Employment & Diversity skill building )
- Epidemiology (Malnutrition, Holistic healing and lifestyle)
- Equality (Diversity, Discrimination and Inclusion)
- Empathy (Old age, Animal care and Music as therapy)
The aim of the program is so introduce children to various issues and causes around them and enabling them to take small steps that they can take to contribute along with their education. They can focus on one of the areas that they strongly feel about, to create a long term project post the workshop.
Through ALT young dynamic minds are sensitizing them to the needs of others, and enabling them to realize that they have the capacity to bring about a change, in whatever way wherever they are. Through ALT, students hone their capacities to understand and learn from alternative perspectives, cultivate an appreciation for life and get sensitized to issues and realities in the world, especially those vastly different from the ones they are familiar with.
MENTORING
The Orion mentor and design team comprises of experienced corporate and HR leaders, trainers, psychologists, anthropologists, Ex CEO's and motivational speakers. Also part of this team are visiting role models and industry specific key influencers.
Whether the student is just getting started in community service, sharpening their focus on a sector, or targeting a larger social goal, the mentor team works with them to maximize the project opportunity.
Students get a Community Service certificate at the end of the workshop that they can also use in their School/CAS/SUPW. Additionally they can create 3-6 months project post this workshop that they can use in their College Essay/SOP's
